The MG brand is back in the Irish market, with a truly affordable, family friendly range of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid cars. 2021 will be the first full year with the MG ZS EV and the MG HS PHEV already in dealer showrooms, and another all-electric model, the MG5 EV arriving to the market very soon.
The MG ZS EV is a compact SUV Crossover with all the comforts and safety features that a family could want. The ZS EV combines a spacious and practical design with a clean, efficient, and dynamic electric powertrain. With a combined WLTP certified electric range of 263km and rapid charging capability, families can enjoy the freedom to go anywhere in an electric car and compact SUV.
The ZS EV is packed full of high-tech features with the MG Pilot driver assistance suite setting new standards of specification and delivering exceptional value for money. MG Pilot includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, Active Emergency Braking and Intelligent High Beam Assist for safe, stress-free driving. This specification is standard across all grades with prices starting from just €28,995 for the MG ZS EV Excite.
To upgrade to the MG ZS EV Exclusive only costs an additional €3,000 with prices starting from €31,995. In addition to the equipment on the Excite, the appeal of the Exclusive grade is obvious when the array of equipment available is considered. This includes Leather Style Seat Upholstery with Heated Front Seats and Power Adjustable Driver’s Seat, with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Warning added to the standard MG Pilot system and you get a Rear View Camera and Power Folding Mirrors. But perhaps most appealing of all, a Panoramic Sunroof that brings a great sense of light and space to the interior.
The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid, a mid-sized SUV, with a combined powertrain of petrol and electric. The model is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine working in tandem with a 90kW electric motor to give an EV-only range of over 50km. The HS Plug-in Hybrid boasts very impressive economy figures and a low CO2 emissions figure of just 43g/km. In EV-only mode emissions are 0g/km and this gives a range of over 50 kilometres. But in hybrid mode the range of the car is extensive, making it ideal for longer journeys and family holidays when you can forget about any range anxiety.
Two trim levels for the HS PHEV are available – Excite and Exclusive – prices start from just €33,150 for the Excite and €36,400 for the top of the range Exclusive, which makes the HS PHEV a seriously appealing option for those in the market for a larger SUV Crossover with electric driving capability.
MG Motor will soon launch a second all electric model which is due to arrive in April 2021 – the MG5 EV Sportwagon. The MG5 EV offers huge amounts of interior space and versatility as well as 345km of electric range from a 52.5kWh battery. Packaged in a highly practical body style, the MG5 EV offers a boot volume of 578 litres to the roof, rising to 1,456 litres with the rear seats folded down. Inside the cabin, there is plenty of room for five people to travel in comfort. Featuring rapid charging capability, the MG5 EV can charge to 80% in just 50 minutes from a 50kW charging point. The MG5 EV will also come with similarly generous levels of standard equipment already seen on the ZS EV, offering Irish customers yet more choice in the affordable family friendly range of electric vehicles from MG. Pricing is expected to be closely aligned with the ZS EV with final details being announced shortly.
MG Motor Ireland have already appointed six high profile dealerships with locations in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Tipperary.
All MG EV and PHEV models qualify for the SEAI grant support and all vehicles are also covered under MG Motor’s 7 Year Warranty, which covers both the battery and the car.
